PhotoDynamic has developed a patented extraction process to create PhytoQuin™, a unique plant bioactive that targets, among other things, harmful pathogenic bacteria and biofilm. When applied to an affected area, this unique extract works in synergy with blue light therapy – and it only takes ONE MINUTE a day!

OUR STORY

PhotoDynamic founder Sherri McFarland, a world leader in photochemistry specializing in PhotoDynamic Therapy and Cancer therapy, extended her research to PhotoDynamic Inactivation to investigate whether invasive plant species might also be a repository of photoactive agents with therapeutic potential. She reasoned that photodynamic compounds naturally derived by the plants and activated by sunlight may explain how invasive plants become the super-plants they are.

Through this work Sherri discovered the powerful antimicrobial properties of Japanese Knotweed (JK). Balancing the intrinsic safety of JK with breakthrough efficacy against viral, bacterial and fungal pathogens, this novel platform promises a brand new class of OTC preventative therapies and Rx treatments.

PhotoDynamic Inc was created to commercialize this novel antimicrobial platform.

Previously, his roles include COO at a digital health startup building a conversational AI platform, CEO of an early-stage mid-market ERP software company, and vice president in the Management Consulting Practice at Ernst & Young.
